The Steering Committee is excited to continue our three annual Regional Teaching Academy Awards to recognize excellence in education. The awards are in the areas of Educational Innovation, Educational Service, and Educational Scholarship. The Steering Committee believes that teaching awards would directly relate to our mission of developing, implementing, and sustaining best practices in veterinary and biomedical education and recognizing those achieving excellence in education. Faculty at any of the RTA institutions, including those who are not RTA members, would be eligible for nomination. The awards (including $500 prize) and letter of recognition will given to the local institution this Summer (2024) and awardees will also be presented a certificate in person at our 2025 Summer Biennial Conference.
Awards:
1. Educational Excellence and Innovation
Recognizes individuals who have created and employed innovative strategies that have engaged and supported student learning.
2. Educational Service
Recognizes individuals who have had a significant impact in veterinary and biomedical education by facilitating, supporting or instituting best educational practices and/or policies at the local, regional or national level.
3. Educational Scholarship
Recognizes individuals who have advanced educational practice by publishing pedagogical research or sharing novel teaching resources.
Nomination process:
A. Nomination letters are due April 1, 2024
Document providing justifications for the nomination and describing the significance, impact and quality of the nominee’s contributions. The Steering Committee will review these and choose specific nominees to submit further materials.
B. Nominee provided materials due June 1st 2024
Chosen nominees will be asked to provide a brief, targeted personal statement and any relevant documents supporting their nomination.
C. Awards will be announced June 15th 2024 and presented at the Summer Biennial Conference.
